This teaching manual, and the accompanying website www.teachphonics.co.uk, has been written to teach the essential pre-phonics skill of alphabet knowledge, and was born out of our frustration that the pre-phonics skills were being overlooked.
Our aim in this, and the other teaching manuals and websites we have written, is to empower the educator; whether that be a parent, carer or other educationalist.
The 7 fully scripted lessons, that are designed to take 15 to 20 minutes, explain and help you teach:
What the letters of the alphabet are
What their names are
How we use the alphabet letters to communicate our written language
The alphabetical order and why we have it
What the consonant and vowel letters are
All the games and resources to teach the lessons are included in the module.
Dependent on the age and prior knowledge of your child, we would expect them to complete a lesson, including playing the associated games and activities to reinforce their knowledge, over the course of a week.
